The Liberty women's tennis doubles team of Evangeline Crist and Anna Dollar saw their historic run come to an end in the semifinals of the 2016 ITA Atlantic Regional Women's Tennis Championships on Monday afternoon.
The duo fell, 6-4, 6-2, to Marshall's pairing of Derya Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center at Old Dominion.
Crist and Dollar, who were seeded No. 9 entering tournament play, are the first pair in Liberty women's tennis history to reach the semifinals at the ITA Atlantic Regional.
"I am very proud of the girls for putting up a great fight, but props to a very good Marshall team that outplayed us today," said assistant coach Giancarlo Lemmi. "We will take this match and learn from it and become a better team because of it."
The duo won three matches at the regional and has an 7-2 overall record so far this fall.
The Lady Flames are back on the courts at the Hokie Fall Invite from Oct. 28-30 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.
