The Liberty women's tennis doubles team of Evangeline Crist and Anna Dollar won their second pre-qualifying match of the weekend on Sunday at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at Pepperdine, before falling just shy of the qualifying round.

The junior and sophomore, who won their first match on Saturday, knocked off UC Irvine's Cassidy Branstine and Vivien Dvali, 8-4, on Sunday afternoon.

With a berth in the qualifying round on the line, Crist and Dollar came up just short against Oregon's team of Alyssa Tobita and Shweta Sangwan, losing 8-5.

The two wins by Crist and Dollar were the first two victories in program history at the event.

"What a great experience for our girls to play in the national tournament against some very good teams! Except for a few games at the Oregon match, Anna and Evangeline played fantastic tennis all weekend," said head coach Jeff Maren. "They have matured before my eyes and now have a better understanding of what it takes to play at a national level."

Crist and Dollar will be back in action with the rest of the Lady Flames women's tennis team at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., from Oct. 14-18.
