Groeneveld teamed up with Hassey for a doubles win on Saturday at the Wake Forest Invitational.
For a second straight day, the Liberty women's tennis team won four matches at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Senior Mariely Hassey picked up a quarterfinals win in B singles, while Audrey Brown triumphed in a singles match as well. Hassey and fellow senior Emily Groeneveld advanced to the consolation finals at B doubles, while Brown and freshman Eugenia Camacho won at D doubles.
Hassey dominated her quarterfinal match, picking up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over East Carolina's Nastja Rettich. In her semifinal match, Hassey lost in three sets to Elon's Suzanne Zenoni, 6-1, 0-6, 3-6. The senior will play in tomorrow's third place match versus Navy's Rozel Hernandez at 9 a.m.
Hassey and Groeneveld teamed up for a victory at B doubles. The seniors knocked off Western Carolina's Savannah Taranto and Jordan Strickland, 8-7 (3).
Brown, a sophomore, defeated Western Carolina's Gabby Hurt in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. She will play Navy's Simona Babb on Sunday.
Brown and Camacho won their second doubles match in as many days, narrowly defeating Navy's Rozel Hernandez and Sabrina Jiang, 8-7 (5).
"We continue to improve on the game plan that we have set," said assistant coach Giancarlo Lemmi. "We are looking forward to finishing up the tournament strong tomorrow."
The Lady Flames begin their final day of competition on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at both the Wake Forest Tennis Center and Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
