Midfielder Daniel McGarry and the Flames are ranked No. 8 in this week's South Atlantic poll.
The Liberty men's soccer team has taken over the No. 8 spot in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) South Atlantic Region poll. The Flames, 4-1-1 on the year, move up one spot from last week's No. 9 ranking. Future Liberty opponent Virginia continues to head the regional rankings. Liberty played to a scoreless, 0-0 tie with Longwood in its only match last week. The scoreless tie, the first for the Flames since Sept. 7, 2004 against Campbell, was the Flames' third shutout of the season.
"I'm very proud of our team and their resiliency during all of the adversity we have faced with injuries and the guys who are sitting out this season," stated Liberty head coach Jeff Alder. "I think the voters recognized the stretch we had, where we played three games in six days against College of Charleston, UNC-Wilmington, and Longwood, and finished with a 1-1-1 record. The Longwood game on two days rest displayed a lot about our character and we will build off of last week."
