During the summer months, LFSN's Alan York sat down with each of the Liberty men's basketball team's incoming players. In the latest installment of the series, York chats with freshman guard Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz.
During the interview, Pacheco-Ortiz discussed a variety of topics, including the origin of his nickname, how he got to Liberty and what it was like growing up in Puerto Rico.
A 6-1 point guard, Pacheco-Ortiz played three seasons for Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, Va. While under the tutelage of head coach, Curt Kassab, Pacheco-Ortiz earned 5A First Team All-State honors during his senior year. A first team All-South Region and first team All-Conference selection, he finished his career at Deep Run with 1,097 points. In addition to his high school accomplishments, he also played summer travel AAU for Team Richmond as well as the U18 Puerto Rican National Team.
