Liberty Softball Head Coach Dot Richardson and her staff have announced the addition of freshman pitcher Elizabeth Engler, who will join the Lady Flames' roster for the 2016-17 academic year.
A native of Temecula, Calif., Engler will be one of seven freshmen on Liberty's 2016-17 softball roster. The other newcomers will be Amber Bishop, Autumn Bishop, Channing Cox, Kayla Harris, Taylor Hoffman and Emily Sweat.
"We are very excited to welcome Elizabeth Engler to the Liberty family!" Richardson said. "Elizabeth is an extremely talented athlete who brings to the program experience at high-level travel ball competition. She will contribute to the pitching staff in an effective way by providing a different look to opponents. Elizabeth is determined and has a strong presence in the circle. Her faith and fight will make a difference." Engler comes to Liberty from Great Oak High School. She earned extensive travel ball experience. Following her freshman year, she played for the PC Batbusters, placed third in the Sparklers Tournament and earned a runner-up finish at the PGF in Huntington Beach, Calif. During 2015, Engler's So Cal Athletics team finished third in the Sparklers Tournament while also participating in the PGF. This summer, she joined American Pastime Gold, competing in the Fireworks Tournament and Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla.
During her time at Great Oak, she was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, serving as an FCA leader as a junior.
