2016 Liberty Men's Soccer Schedule
Nine home contests highlight a challenging 2016 slate for the Liberty Flames men's soccer team.
"We look forward to the difficult challenge in front of us this season," stated Liberty Head Coach Jeff Alder. "Our home slate offers our local soccer community the opportunity to see college soccer at the highest level."
Alder's Flames will begin their 2016 regular season schedule by hosting Howard at Osborne Stadium on Aug. 26.
Liberty's remaining home schedule will feature non-conference matches against William & Mary, Buffalo, American and 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Dayton in early September, before welcoming UNC Asheville, Campbell, High Point and Presbyterian in October for Big South Conference play. The Flames' Sept. 11 meeting with Buffalo will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs, while Liberty's match against Presbyterian on Oct. 29 will serve as the Flames' Senior Day.
The Flames will have eight road games scheduled for 2016. Liberty will travel to VMI in August, while journeying to USC Upstate and NC State in September and Marshall in October for non-conference matches. The Flames will visit Winthrop, Radford, Gardner-Webb and finish the regular season at Longwood in Big South Conference play.
Liberty will begin its pursuit of the Big South title, starting Nov. 6. The conference's top eight teams will square off at the home fields of the top four teams that day. The winners will then advance to the semifinals on Nov. 9, with the Big South Championship final on Nov. 13. The semifinals and finals will also be played on the home field of the top seed this season. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.
