Kylie Polsgrove cleared 5-5.75 in the heptathlon high jump, Saturday at the 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.
Liberty freshman Kylie Polsgrove sits in 10th place after the opening day of the 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships heptathlon, which took place Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Polsgrove totaled 2,919 points during Saturday's four events, which took about five hours to complete on a day which reached triple digits on the thermometer.
After opening with a 14.86 clocking in the 100 hurdles, Polsgrove enjoyed her best performance of the day in the high jump. Thanks to third-attempt clearances at 5-4.5 and 5-5.75, Polsgrove tied for the second-best high jump effort (5-5.75) among the 14 heptathletes.
The Big South Women's Freshman of the Year then wrapped up the evening with a 28-11.75 shot put and a 26.11 clocking for 200 meters.
At the end of the heptathlon competition, the top two finishers will punch their tickets to the 2016 IAAF U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. USC's Lyndsey Lopes (3,231 points) and Texas Tech's Kaylee Hinton (3,207) own the two coveted positions heading into Sunday's action.
The second day of the heptathlon will begin Sunday at 7:45 p.m. Eastern with the long jump.
