Liberty's Mickey DeMorat and Isaiah Logue have both been named to the 2016 VaSID All-State University Division Men's Golf Team. The all-state teams were announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) earlier today.
DeMorat and Logue were two of the five VaSID all-state second-team honorees, joining William & Mary's David Hicks, Virginia Tech's Joey Lane and Richmond's Matthew Lowe.
The VaSID all-state first-team listing was comprised of VCU's Adam Ball, Virginia's Derek Bard and Jimmy Stanger and James Madison's Ryan Cole and Alex Henderson.
Cole was tabbed the VaSID Men's Golfer of the Year, while his Dukes' teammate Henderson was voted the VaSID Men's Golf Rookie of the Year. Virginia's Bowen Sargent was named the VaSID Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Logue earned VaSID all-state second-team honors for the second year in a row. The accolades are the first for DeMorat who recently completed his first season at Liberty after transferring from Eastern Florida State, last summer.
Logue led the Flames during the 2015-16 season, finishing his second year with the program with a 72.62 season stroke average.
The Fairfield, Pa., native ranked fourth in the Big South in stroke average and was named to the All-Big South team for the second year in a row.
Logue tied for team-high honors with five top-10 finishes in 2015-16 and led the team with three top-five finishes, including a second-place showing at the 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship.
Logue's other postseason honors include being named to the All-Big South squad, as well as earning a spot on the PING All-Region East Team.
DeMorat ranked second on Liberty's roster with a 72.92 season stroke average and joined Logue on the All-Big South team.
The Merritt Island, Fla., native finished the season tied with Logue with five top-10 finishes and led the Flames during the spring in stroke average (72.48).
The pair of golfers helped Liberty capture the team title at the 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship, the program's fourth conference title in six years.
Liberty advanced to the NCAA Albuquerque Regional in Albuquerque, N.M., the program's fifth regional appearance in the last six seasons and seventh in program history.
