Former Liberty soccer player Sachem Wilson has signed a contract to play with the ND Gorcia of the Slovenia first division.
With his signing, Wilson, who played at Liberty from 2012-15, becomes the first American to ever play in the Slovenia first division. As a member of the ND Gorica, he will also play in the Europa League at the end of the month. The striker moves to ND Gorcia, based in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, from NK Adria Miren.
In his four seasons at Liberty, Wilson scored 26 goals and assisted on eight others for 60 career points. He led the Flames in goals and points in each of his final three seasons.
The Stow, Ohio native, was selected to the 2014 Big South All-Conference team and to the VaSID All-State team in 2013 and 2014. The striker was also named to the Big South All-Academic team in 2014 and 2015.
In 2013, Wilson led the Flames with 23 points and 10 goals, the most since 2010. It is also the most by a Liberty player over the last six years (2011-16).
