2016 Liberty Cross Country Schedule Liberty will race four times within the Commonwealth of Virginia during the 2016 men's and women's cross country season, with other meets slated for Louisville, Ky., Terre Haute, Ind. and Mount Pleasant, S.C.
For the fourth consecutive season, the Flames and Lady Flames will open the year at the low-key UVa Duals, Sept. 1 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The meet will enable Liberty to preview the course for the 2016 NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships. Panorama Farms will host the event for the third time in four years on Nov. 11.
Liberty will remain in Virginia for its other September competition, racing in the VT Alumni Invite on Sept. 16 at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in Blacksburg, Va. A partial squad will return to Blacksburg on Nov. 4 for the Hokie Open.
The Flames and Lady Flames will visit E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky., for the Oct. 1 Greater Louisville Classic. The course hosted the 2015 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, where Liberty's Ednah Kurgat placed 12th in the women's race to earn All-America honors.
Two weeks later (Oct. 15), Liberty will compete against some of the nation's best teams at the ISU Pre-National Invitational at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. For the 11th time in the last 13 years, the same course will be the site of the 2016 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Nov. 19.
The 2016 Big South Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will take place at Laurel Hill Plantation in Mount Pleasant, S.C., on Oct. 29. The meet will be contested in the Palmetto State for the second straight year, but it will mark Charleston Southern's first time hosting the event since 2006.
