Before he departs to take over as head coach of the Abilene Christian track & field program on June 1, long-time Liberty assistant Lance Bingham spent a few minutes with Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network.
Bingham totaled 18 seasons during two different stints (1995-2001 and 2004-16) on Liberty's track & field staff, helping the Flames and Lady Flames combined for 53 Big South titles and three IC4A crowns.
Most recently, Bingham coached Erika Jackson, Riley Brandon and Kylie Polsgrove to a 1-2-3 sweep of last week's Big South heptathlon competition, while Zach Davis took home the Big South decathlon championship. At the end of the meet, head coach Brant Tolsma presented Bingham his Big South Coach of the Year trophy.
Bingham garnered another honor on Thursday, when he was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in Levelland, Texas.
Bingham will take over as the 19th head coach of an Abilene Christian program which has won 54 NCAA team national championships.
