Lady Flames Travel to Palmetto State

The No. 5 seed Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team (5-12, 4-4 Big South) looks for its fourth straight victory on Saturday in the Big South Women's Lacrosse quarterfinals. Liberty will travel to Conway, S.C., to take on No. 4 seed Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Lady Flames earned a dominating 21-6 home victory on Saturday after besting Presbyterian on Senior Day.

Three different Lady Flames recorded a hat trick in the victory over the Blue Hose, led by Kallie Britton's four goals. Natalie Silvers and Kayla Foster each chipped in three goals of their own. Foster also recorded a game-high three assists in the victory.

The Lady Flames controlled the pace early and did not let up, outshooting Presbyterian, 35-15. Liberty also won both the battles for ground balls (26-22) and draw controls (17-12). The Lady Flames outscored their opponents 57-20 in their final three regular season outings.

Same Name, Double the Trouble
Senior captains Kallie Britton and Callie Francis continue to get things done on both ends of the field for the Lady Flames. Britton ranks first on the squad in goals scored with 33 and second in points with 42. Francis has recorded the second most goals on the squad with 25 as well as the second most assists with 11. Francis also ranks third on the team in points with 36. The senior captains have combined for 57 ground balls, 45 draw controls and 33 caused turnovers, this season.

Foster Fuels
Kayla Foster continues to pace the Liberty offense in her first season of collegiate action. Foster leads the team in both points (50) and assists (28). Foster's 28 assists are the second most in a single season in program history. The Pennsylvania native has also added 22 goals to her points total this season.

Sister Act
Sisters Abby and Kallie Britton have accounted for 46 goals and 10 assists thus far. Kallie leads the team in goals with 33, while Abby ranks fifth on the team with 13. The Pridemore sisters, Katy and Hannah, have also aided the Lady Flames' offense this season. Katy and Hannah have accounted for 20 goals, 36 points, 16 assists, 23 ground balls and 32 draw controls.

Defensive Efforts
The core of Colleen Ekert, Meghan Hammond, Lindsey McNamara, Victoria Tickle and Melanie Via have anchored the Liberty defense this season. The quintet has combined for 128 of Liberty's 339 ground balls this season, to complement 86 of the Lady Flames' 183 caused turnovers. Ekert leads the squad in ground balls with 42, while Tickle ranks second with 32. McNamara ranks third among the quintet in ground balls with 20. Ekert also leads the defense in caused turnovers with 33. McNamara adds 18 caused turnovers, while Tickle and Via contribute 17 and 13, respectively.

A Glimpse at the Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina enters the contest having won four of its last five games. The lone Chanticleer loss came against Winthrop as the Eagles downed Coastal by the final of 8-6 in Conway, S.C., on April 20.

The Chanticleers bested the Lady Flames by the final score of 11-10 in overtime on April 2 in Conway, S.C. Coastal was trailing by three goals with less than 10 minutes remaining and rattled off four consecutive tallies to stun the Lady Flames.

The fourth-seeded Chanticleers are led offensively by Sara Nolan's 41 goals and 51 points. Charlotte O'Leary currently sits second on the squad in goals (34) and points (36). The duo combined for seven of Coastal's 11 goals in the victory over Liberty.

What's Next?
With a victory on Saturday, the Lady Flames would advance to the Big South semifinals on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C. Liberty would face the winner of No. 1 seed Winthrop and No. 8 seed Presbyterian.
