Update (as of 9:00 a.m. on 4/27/16): Due to forecasted weather, football will hold its Strength Combine on Wednesday in the FOC weight room, while the Speed Combine will move to Friday - times will remain the same.
Liberty's strength and conditioning program will hold a football strength and speed combine event this Wednesday and Friday afternoon.
The combine takes the place of the program's former "Afternoon of Champions" events, during which Liberty's football players were tested following spring practice.
The players will still undergo the same set of post-spring practice tests; however, the testing will be divided over a two-day period.
On Wednesday, the Liberty Football Speed Combine will be held, starting at 4 p.m., at Williams Stadium. During Wednesday's session, players will be tested in the vertical jump, standing long jump, the 3-cone test, the 20-yard shuttle, the 60-yard shuttle and the 40-yard dash. Wednesday's events get underway at 4 p.m.
On Friday, the Liberty Football Strength Combine will be held in the weight room of the Williams Football Operations Center (FOC). The event start at 3:30 p.m., during which the players will be tested in the hang clean, bench press and the 225-pound bench test.
Both days' testing will last roughly two hours and the events are free and open to the public. Fans wishing to observe either day's testing are reminded there is no available parking at the FOC and are encouraged to park in the Bailey, LaHaye and Speakman parking lots.
