Flames Receive No. 3 Seed for Big South Men's Golf Championship

Liberty will be the No. 3 seed at next week's 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship, where the Flames will look for their fourth title in the last six years.

The 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship begins with a practice round on Saturday. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played Sunday through Tuesday and is free and open to the public.

For the ninth-consecutive season, the event will be contested at The Patriot Golf Club (par 72, 7,120 yards) in Ninety Six, S.C., the site of Liberty's conference titles in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Defending Big South champion Charleston Southern earned the No. 1 seed based upon its No. 55 national ranking in the latest Golfstat rankings.

Campbell, last year's championship runner-up, is ranked No. 61 in the nation by Golfstat and receives the No. 2 seed, just ahead of No. 3 seed Liberty, which is ranked No. 65 in the country.

Radford is the No. 4 seed with its ranking of 146, while Winthrop earns the No. 5 seed with its national ranking of No. 151. Coastal Carolina is No. 155 nationally and will be the No. 6 seed in the championship, with Gardner-Webb (157) receiving the No. 7 seed.

Presbyterian is the No. 8 seed based on its ranking of 195, ahead of No. 9 Longwood (230). High Point rounds out the championship field as the No. 10 seed (264).

The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Men's Golf Championship for the 11th time in 12 years. The course has hosted the event every year since 2008, in addition to 2005 and 2006.
