For the first time this season, a Liberty lacrosse student-athlete has garnered a Big South weekly award. Freshman attacker Kayla Foster has been named this week's Big South Freshman of the Week for contests played during April 4-10.
Kayla Foster finished the week with four goals and three assists, while also recording two ground balls. In Wednesday's 12-11 victory over Longwood, Foster netted two goals and picked up two assists. Foster netted her second goal of the contest with 5:55 remaining to place Liberty ahead of Longwood for good. The Pennsylvania native then assisted on Michaela Rich's goal to double the Lady Flames' lead to two with 1:54 left to play.
Foster netted two more goals and recorded one more assist against Campbell on Saturday as the Lady Flames fell to the Camels, 11-10. Foster's second goal of the contest came with 38 ticks remaining in regulation, giving Liberty the fighting chance. The Lady Flames fell short despite Foster's best efforts at the late equalizer.
Foster continues to lead the Lady Flames in points (33) and assists (17). The Pennsylvania freshman has also notched 16 goals this season.
Foster and the Lady Flames return to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. Liberty travels to High Point, N.C., to take on the conference-leading High Point Panthers.
