The Flames will play their final regular season event of the 2015-16 campaign this weekend when they participate in the 2016 Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
Ohio State will host the 16-team tournament on its home course in Columbus, Ohio, The Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,455 yards).
Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the event has been shortened to 36 holes of competition, with play getting under way on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m., each day.
The Flames have previously played in this event one time, finishing in third place in 2014 with a 25-over par 877 (288-293-296). The third-place showing was a springboard for the Flames, propelling them into the program's third Big South title the following week.
The event will once again be a precursor to the Big South Men's Golf Championship, which will be contested at The Patriot Golf Club, in Ninety-Six, S.C., April 17-19.
Ten of the 16 teams in this year's field are currently in the top 100 teams in the country, including Penn State (No. 29), UNLV (No. 31), UAB (No. 37), Kent State (No. 46), Michigan State (No. 49), Northwestern (No. 55) and Michigan (No. 62).
The Flames enter the weekend event ranked No. 64, a position that the experts believe is around the "bubble mark" for teams to be selected as an at-large member into the NCAA Regional fields.
Ohio State, who is currently ranked No. 78 in the country, has won its home tournament 23 times in the event's 45-year history. Other teams in this year's field who have previously won are Kent State (five times), Northwestern (four times) and UNLV (one time).
Flames' Head Coach Jeff Thomas will utilize a full line-up of sophomores at this weekend's event including: Hutson Chandler, Mickey DeMorat, Adam Eineving, Isaiah Logue and Payton Taylor.
DeMorat has led the Flames in their last three tournaments and four times overall during the spring. He ranks second on the team with a 72.66 season stroke average and has the team's best spring stroke average at 71.82.
Logue leads the Flames overall with a 72.21 season stroke average and has finished top 10 in four out of 11 events this season. He is tied with DeMorat with the pair of golfers each recording 11 rounds at par or better this campaign.
Taylor ranks third on the team with a 74.10 season stroke average and is tied with DeMorat for second on the team with three top 10 finishes.
Eineving has been inserted into Liberty's line-up for the last two events. He is coming off his best showing in a team event this year as he finished tied for 32nd place at last weekend's Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
Chandler has posted three top 30 finishes this season, including a sixth-place showing at the Manor Individual Tournament.
