Liberty Lady Flames' standout freshman Anna Dollar has been named this week's Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week, for matches played during March 21-27. Dollar receives this award for the third time this season, the others being on Jan. 20 and Feb. 24.
Dollar garners the recognition after finishing the week with a perfect 4-0 overall mark, recording two wins in both singles and in doubles action.
During Thursday's 4-3 victory over Coastal Carolina, Dollar helped even the contest in singles play. Prior to singles action, Dollar and teammate Maria Khval recorded Liberty's lone doubles win, besting Natalie Wall and Cari Berry by the score of 6-4. With Liberty down 2-1 overall, Dollar evened the score from the No. 2 singles position, defeating Romane Delay in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Dollar's victory sparked two more unanswered singles victories, aiding Liberty in its 4-3 victory over the Chanticleers.
Dollar returned to action on Friday, helping the Lady Flames defeat Presbyterian, 7-0. Dollar and Khval began doubles play with a 6-1 victory over Claire Andrews and Tracy Johnson. Later in the match with Liberty ahead 5-0, the Pennsylvania freshman defeated Caroline Ferrari in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6(8-6) from the No. 2 singles slot.
Dollar and the Lady Flames return to action on Saturday with a conference tilt against Charleston Southern at 11 a.m. in Charleston, S.C. Liberty will then compete against College of Charleston on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
