Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network recently caught up with redshirt senior javelin thrower Steve Feister for an update on the 2016 outdoor track & field season.
Feister opened his season in record-breaking fashion at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, March 18 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Pennsylvania native's sixth and final javelin attempt of the day sailed out to 234-7, breaking the school record and ranking No. 2 in Big South Conference history.
Feister, who currently ranks No. 16 nationally in the men's javelin, earned Big South Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career on March 24.
Feister and a number of his teammates will compete in the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, Wednesday through Saturday. Other Liberty athletes will take part in the Vertklasse Meeting in High Point, N.C., Friday and Saturday.
