Erin Edmond qualified for the finals in the women's 200 and 400, Friday at the Winthrop Invitational.
Liberty senior Erin Edmond clocked an impressive time of 54.57 in her first outdoor 400 dash as a Lady Flame, highlighting Friday's action at the Winthrop Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track Complex.
Women's Day One Recap Edmond's 54.57 effort made her the fastest qualifier to Saturday's women's 400 final and moved her up to No. 2 in program history. She will be joined in the final by teammates Olivia Behymer (personal-best 56.29) and Nicole Leonzo (56.71).
Three other Lady Flames also clocked sub-58.00 400 times on Friday, including Corinn Bedell (57.56) and freshmen Bailey Reeves (personal-best 57.81) and Delaney McDowell (personal-best 57.91).
Later in the afternoon, Edmond (25.00) and Leonzo (25.28) punched their tickets to Saturday's final in the 200 dash.
The other Lady Flames to qualify for running event finals included Kate Flower (100, 12.15) and Kylie Polsgrove (100 hurdles, personal-best 14.78).
Polsgrove was one of five Lady Flames to post a top-five finish in an event final on Friday, high jumping 5-4.5 for fifth place. Teammate Erin Zappia matched her outdoor best of 5-3.25 to tie for seventh place in the event.
Kat Bouton made a successful debut at the 5K distance, placing fourth in 18:02.89. Terrill Zentmeyer was the next runner to cross the finish line, thanks to her personal-best time of 18:06.18.
Rachael Fasana matched her collegiate-best pole vault mark of 11-5.75, tying for fourth place. The redshirt freshman is now tied for ninth place in program history.
Dasiana Larson led the way for Liberty in both the shot put (fifth place, 43-5.75) and hammer (ninth place, 159-5) on Friday.
In the hammer, Larson was followed closely by Catherine Oyarzun (10th place, season-best 159-0) and Holly Arey (12th place, personal-best 155-6). Arey's effort lifted the sophomore into ninth place on Liberty's all-time list.
Allison Corbin long jumped 16-6.5 to post a 10th-place finish.
Men's Day One Recap David Scouten's season-best hammer throw of 175-2 earned a fifth-place finish, while Seth Lewis reached 149-8 for 12th place.
Scouten was also the Flames' top shot putter, coming in ninth at 48-5.5.
Jeremy Miekley's first collegiate 5K resulted in a time of 15:41.60 and a sixth-place showing.
Liberty's Ryan Davis (14.85) and Blake Kohring (personal-best 14.89) both advanced to Saturday's men's 110 hurdles final.
Meanwhile, Stephen Racanelli moved on to the 400 dash final with his qualifying time of 48.46.
The Winthrop Invitational will wrap up on Saturday, with the day's events beginning at 9 a.m. with the women's triple jump, women's javelin and men's discus.
