On Saturday, April 30 all little league baseball and softball players, ages 7-12, are invited to join us at Liberty Softball Stadium for an official MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition. Following Liberty softball's game vs. Gardner-Webb at 2 p.m., the Athletics Department will host the competition on Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball and softball skills.
Boys and girls will be divided into three age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game in San Diego, California.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age and gender group at the local competition, will be awarded and advance to the sectional level of competition. For more information on the competition guidelines, visit http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/kids/mlb_pitch_hit_run.jsp.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian complete a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Registration is online at https://secure.mlb.com/mlb/kids/phr_participant_registration_form.jsp and also on site beginning at 1 p.m. Registration forms will be accepted until the event begins. Competitions and times are subject to change and are weather permitting.
