With the season opener for the 2016 softball season less than a day away, LFSN reporter Alan York caught up with senior shortstop Mickey Loveridge for an interview earlier this week.
Loveridge returns to the Lady Flames after solidifying the shortstop position in 2015. Following a two-year career at Sacramento City College, where she was an NJCAA All-American, Loveridge hit .292 for the Lady Flames last season. She finished the year tied for second on the team with 10 doubles. She scored the winning run in the 10th inning of a key, 5-4 win over Coastal Carolina. Also, she will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday when the Lady Flames take on No. 5/5 Alabama.
Liberty opens its season tomorrow at No. 17/17 UCF, with first pitch set for 4 p.m. The Lady Flames will compete in a total of six games while in Florida this weekend.
