As we celebrate the beginning of another new year today, Liberty Athletics looks back at one of its celebration days during 2015 when it celebrated Military Appreciation Day on Nov. 7.
Annually, Liberty Athletics celebrates Military Appreciation Day during a football game that is played around Veterans Day. This year's Military Appreciation Day fell on Nov. 7 when Liberty posted a 21-13 victory over Presbyterian. The Flames are 6-0 all-time during its Military Appreciation Day.
As part of Military Appreciation Day, Liberty Athletics holds a special halftime ceremony that honors all branches of the armed forces. Today's video package highlights the 2015 halftime ceremony and celebration of the military.
Another highlight of Military Appreciation Day is the awarding of the George Rogers Champion of Freedom Award, named after World War II veteran George Rogers.
Previous honorees include George Rogers (2010), Steve Bozeman (2011), Tim Lee (2012), Clebe McClary (2013) and Oliver North (2014). This 2015 George Rogers Champion of Freedom Award winner was U.S. Army Major Michael Donahue. Click here to learn more about Major Donahue.
