Recently, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network was able to visit with Head Football Coach Turner Gill to get his closing thoughts on the 2015 season.
Gill wrapped up his fourth season at the helm of Liberty's football program with a thrilling 24-21 victory over No. 4 Coastal Carolina in football's first-ever nationally televised game.
The Flames concluded the season with a 6-5 record, Liberty's 10th season in a row with a winning record to join an elite group of winning programs the last 10 years.
Liberty is one of five FCS programs that has posted a winning record each of the last 10 seasons: Harvard (15 seasons/since 2001), Jacksonville State (13 seasons/since 2003), New Hampshire (12 seasons/since 2004), McNeese State (11 seasons/since 2005) and Liberty (10 seasons/since 2006).
Gill had 11 of his players earn All-Big South honors this year (four first-team; seven second-team), spotlighted by senior defensive end Chima Uzowihe being named the Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Uzowihe is the first player in program history to take home this Big South honor.
