Just prior to the conclusion of the 2015 Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada schedule, LFSN Game On was able to catch up with Liberty's alums Robert Karlsson and Chase Marinell.
Karlsson and Marinell both posted top 20 finishes in the 2015 Order of Merit final standings. Karlsson ranked No. 16, while Marinell finished at No. 18. The top five golfers on the Order of Merit standings annually earn their invitation to compete on the PGA's Web.com Tour.
Karlsson completed his second season on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada and has posted five career top 10 finishes. His best showing of the 2015 season was a runner-up finish in The Player Cup where he posted a 13-under par 271.
Marinell was a rookie on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada this season, a year that included four top 10 finishes in 2015. His top finish of the season was when he shared second place at The Great Waterway Classic with a 19-under par 269.
Karlsson (2009-12) and Marinell (2011-14) helped Liberty win three Big South titles and advance to four straight NCAA Regionals from 2011 to 2014. In 2012, the pair led the Flames to a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship.
Karlsson, a 2012 GCAA/PING All-American, finished his career as the program's record holder with a 72.02 career stroke average. Marinell, a two-time GCAA/PING All-Region honoree, ranks second on Liberty's career list with a 73.04 career stroke average.
