The Liberty Lady Flames tennis squad will conclude fall competition this weekend in Denton, Texas.
The Lady Flames will compete in the North Texas Invite that will feature host North Texas, UT-Arlington and TCU. The format of the tournament will be a hidden dual where Liberty will compete against one team each day.
The last hidden dual tournament that the Lady Flames competed in was the Martha Thorn Invite at West Virginia last fall where the squad went 13-7 in a span of two days.
Liberty last competed in the ITA Atlantic Regionals which the Lady Flames hosted on Oct. 15-17. Evangeline Crist and Valerie Thong reached the doubles quarterfinals of the regional as the only Lady Flames to do so in program history. Belen Rivera and Maria Khval advanced to the round of 32 in the main singles draws as the first Lady Flames to do so in program history.
The Lady Flames will see how they fare against North Texas this weekend as the two programs will also meet in the spring season on Feb. 21 in Lynchburg, Va.
"This will be our toughest test of the fall season," stated head coach Jeff Maren. "UNT and UTA will finish inside the top 75 this year, in my opinion, and TCU finished last season ranked #17 in the country. We will be forced to raise our games, which is exactly what we need to do to prepare for the spring. I'm looking forward to seeing how our girls respond to the challenge."
