Liberty to Host Presbyterian for Senior Day

The Liberty Flames will host the Presbyterian Blue Hose in their final regular season home match, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Kickoff for the matchup between the Flames (5-9-1, 1-5-1) and the Blue Hose (0-14-1, 0-7-1) is scheduled for 1 p.m. 

Prior to the contest, Liberty will honor its 11 members playing in their final regular season home game – Tyler Bullock, Will Coleman, Connor Fleming, Jamie Foxwell, Tim Harbison, Khalil Karl, Glodi Konga, Kurt Meyers, Josiah Phillips, Blessing Tahuona and Sachem Wilson.

A Look at Liberty
Liberty (5-9-1, 1-5) enters Saturday's contest off a 3-3 tie, Tuesday evening at Osborne Stadium. The Flames rallied with two goals in a 58 second span to take a 3-2 lead early in the second half of the contest played throughout a steady rain. Longwood found the equalizer during the 65th minute, as the match ended in a tie.

Liberty senior forward Sachem Wilson netted his team-leading fifth goal and assisted on another goal in the contest. Wilson has scored a goal in each of the last two games for Flames.

Fellow senior Tyler Bullock scored his second goal of the season and collected an assist, while freshman midfielder Kevin Mendoza also netted a goal, his second of the year, and had an assist in the contest. Forward Bay Kurtz assisted on Bullock's marker.

The Flames have seen nine players score at least one goal this season. Wilson leads the Flames with four goals. Freshman Nico Bellarde and Mendoza and seniors Tim Harbison and Bullock have scored two goals each for Liberty.

Geovanny Murillo, fellow midfielder Kurt Meyers and Kurtz lead the Flames with three assists apiece.

Jeremy Lee has played every minute in goal for Liberty, so far in 2015. Lee has posted a 1.48 goals-against average and a .705 save percentage over 1,400 minutes. He has recorded three shutouts.

The Flames are in their 15th season under the guidance of Head Coach Jeff Alder. Liberty is 143-110-24 under the Liberty alum.

A Look at Presbyterian
Presbyterian (0-14-1, 0-7-1) enters Saturday's contest off a 1-0 setback to Gardner-Webb in its final home game of 2015.

The Blue Hose have struggled offensively this season. Three Presbyterian players have scored. Onyem Provost, Mason Lewis and Matt Trimby have each netted a goal for the Blue Hose. John Speed has two assists.

Goalkeeper Johnny Archer has posted a 2.51 goals-against average over 1,148 minutes. He has seen action in 14 of Presbyterian's 15 games.

Head Coach Bret Boulware is in his 15th year at Presbyterian. Boulware has guided the Blue Hose from NCAA Division II level to Division I.

Liberty holds a 7-0 record all-time in its series with Presbyterian. Last season, Liberty defeated PC, 1-0, in Clinton, S.C. All the meetings between the two teams have come since the Blue Hose joined the Big South Conference in 2008.

Flames News and Notes

  • Saturday's 11 honorees on Senior Day have accounted for 12 of Liberty's 18 goals or 67% of the Flames' goal total, this season.
  • For the third straight season, Sachem Wilson leads Liberty in goals and points. Wilson has scored 25 goals during his career. With two more goals, the senior would enter the program's top 10 in goals.
  • Senior team captain Tim Harbison has started 71 consecutive matches for the Flames. The midfielder/defender has been part of Liberty's starting 11 since joining the Flames in 2012. He is the only Flame to start every match this season.
  • Nine of Liberty's 15 games have been decided by one goal and one ending in a tie. Three of its contests have gone to overtime.
  • Liberty wore pink jerseys for their match, Tuesday evening against Longwood. The Flames donned the pink jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in honor of Head Coach Jeff Alder's wife, Lori, who is battling the cancer.
  • The Flames are 2-5-1 at Osborne Stadium, this season.

A Look Ahead
Liberty will finish its 2015 regular season at Campbell on Wednesday.  The Big South Conference contest at the Eakes Athletic Complex in Buies Creek, N.C., is schedule for 7 p.m.
