With the Flames getting some much needed rest this week, LFSN reporter Nick Pierce was able to catch up with Flames Head Football Coach Turner Gill during their annual bye week.
Following a four-game road swing, Liberty returned home last Saturday to record a 45-35 win over Big South newcomer Kennesaw State. The 10-point Homecoming Weekend win moved Liberty to 4-4 overall and 1-2 on the season.
The Flames are 2-1 in games following a bye week under Gill and 14-18 all-time in games after a bye week in program history. Each game following a bye week under Gill has been against a Big South foe, with Liberty posting wins over Gardner-Webb in both 2012 and 2014.
After the bye week, the Flames return to Big South action on Nov. 7 when they host Presbyterian during Military Appreciation Weekend. Liberty has thrived recently during the month of November, posting an 11-1 record during the 11th month of the year in three previous seasons under Gill.
