Nina Dunay, former standout midfielder for the Lady Flames, has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2015 fall schedule.
Dunay had a strong playing career for Liberty, holding five program records during her tenure. The Ashburn, Va., native holds the program record for most goals scored (128), shots (279), caused turnovers (80), games played (75) and is tied with Morgan Becker for the most games started with 70.
The former standout was a three-time Big South All-Conference honoree and two-time VaSID All-State team member. She also garnered a spot on the 2015 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll squad.
Dunay will be working with the offensive units as well as the midfield. Dunay will also assist in practice planning, team travel and recruiting.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Nina back to campus as a part of our staff," commented head coach Kelly Nangle. "She is one of the most decorated players in the history of our program and was a part of Liberty lacrosse's very first recruiting class. Her passion for the game, our girls and this institution is undeniable and will immediately help elevate our program to new heights.
