Liberty to Close Out 3-Game Road Swing at ETSU, Tuesday

The Liberty men's soccer team looks to extend its winning streak to four games, when the Flames travel to Johnson City, Tenn., for a match at ETSU, Tuesday.

The contest completes a three-game road swing and is the final non-conference match of 2015 for the Flames (4-3).

Kickoff for the Liberty-ETSU (2-2-1) match is scheduled for 5 p.m.

A Look at Liberty
After a 1-0 win at James Madison, Friday, the Flames (4-3) will carry a three-game winning streak into Tuesday's game at ETSU.

A goal by Jamie Foxwell during the 84th minute was the lone goal, as Liberty defeated James Madison in a tightly contested match, Friday. Off a corner kick by Geovanny Murrillo, Nico Bellarde headed the ball down in the 18-yard box, finding the foot of Foxwell for his first goal of 2015.

Seven Flames have scored at least one goal this season, with forwad Sachem Wilson leading the Flames with three. Bellarde, a freshman, and senior Tim Harbison have scored two goals for Liberty.

Murillo and fellow midfielder Kurt Meyers lead the Flames with three assists apiece,

Jeremy Lee has played every minute in goal for Liberty, so far in 2015. Lee has posted a 1.40 goals-against average over 664 minutes and recorded two shutouts. Over the last three matches, the junior and the Flames have allowed just one goal.

The Flames are in their 15th season under the guidance of Head Coach Jeff Alder. Liberty is 142-104-23 under the Liberty alum.

A Look at ETSU
ETSU (2-2-1) will enter Tuesday's contest, looking to build upon a 3-1 win over No. 15 Kentucky, last Wednesday.

Six different Buccaneers have netted a goal in 2015.  Forward Joao Ramalho and midfielder James Smith lead ETSU with two goals each. No Buccaneer has more than one assist.

Freshman Johnny Sutherland has played every minute in goal for ETSU, this season. In 470 minutes, Sutherland has recorded a 1.34 goals-against average and one shutout.

Head Coach Bo Oshoniyi is in his second year at ETSU. Last season, he led the Buccaneers to a 7-10-1 mark.

ETSU and Liberty will be meeting for the first time ever on the pitch, Tuesday.

Flames News and Notes

  • Tuesday's game will be the final non-conference match of the year for the Flames. Starting Saturday, Liberty will finished their 2015 regular season with nine Big South Conference contests.
  • With his goal on Friday night, Foxwell, a defender, has scored three goals during his career. Last season, the senior netted two goals.
  • Kurt Meyers and Geovanny Murrillo are tied for the Big South Conference lead with three assists. Coastal Carolina's Sergio Camargo also has three.
  • Eight of Liberty's 11 goals have been scored by seniors in 2015. The other three have been scored by freshmen.
  • Liberty has scored 11 goals and allowed 10 in 2015.
  • Friday's shutout was the third of goalkeeper Jeremy Lee's career.
  • With back-to-back road wins, Liberty moves to 2-1 away from Osborne Stadium, this season.

Liberty returns home to begin Big South Conference play, Saturday. The Winthrop Eagles will visit Osborne Stadium for a match, starting at noon.
