Game On recently caught up with 2012 Liberty graduate Avery Warley-Talbert, who is preparing for the New York Liberty's appearance in the 2015 WNBA Playoffs.
The Liberty (23-11), making their first playoff appearance since 2012, are the WNBA's overall No. 1 seed for the first time in franchise history. New York will face the Washington Mystics in the best-of-3 Eastern Conference semifinals starting Friday at Madison Square Garden.
Warley-Talbert made 26 appearances as a reserve post player this season, averaging 1.5 ppg and 2.7 rpg for the Liberty. She averaged 15.7 rebounds per 40 minutes played, including a pair of 10-rebound contests (Aug. 19 at San Antonio and Sept. 13 at Indiana).
Warley-Talbert will take part in the WNBA Playoffs for the second time in her four-year career. She previously played in two games for the Chicago Sky in the 2013 WNBA Playoffs.
No former Lady Flame has ever been a part of a WNBA championship team. Katie (Feenstra) Mattera came the closest in 2007, when her Detroit Shock lost to the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals.
