Before the Flames begin the fall portion of their 2015-16 schedule, LFSN reporter Alan York recently had a chance to catch up with Flames Head Golf Coach Jeff Thomas.
Thomas, who is beginning his 12th season as the Flames head coach, discussed a variety of topics during the interview, including what his players did during the summer and the recent additions of Michael DeMorat and Gabe Lench to the roster.
Also, Thomas talked about the return of Ian McConnell to the program as his new assistant coach. McConnell played a part in Liberty winning three Big South titles (2011, 2012 and 2014) and making four-straight NCAA Regional appearances (2011-14).
Finally, Thomas discussed Liberty's season-opening event, next weekend, at the Rod Myers Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Duke at The Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C., on Sept. 12 and 13.
