As the Flames prepare to open the 2015 season this Saturday at Williams Stadium against Delaware State, LibertyFlames.com will run a series of features to prepare fans for Game Day.

The series will provide a reminder to LibertyFlames.com's typical weekly coverage of the football program, plus provide helpful information regarding your game day experience when following the Flames throughout the 2015 season.

The series begins today by taking a behind the scenes look at Liberty's award winning Flames Illustrated game day program. For many fans, stopped by to purchase the day's official game program is one of the first parts of the game experience when they enter the gates at Williams Stadium.

The 2014 Flames Illustrated football game day program was recognized with two "Best in the Nation" awards by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Flames Illustrated publication was the "Best in the Nation" award winner for the Football Game Program University Division contest. The cover of the publication was recognized as the winner of the "Best Cover" design portion of the contest. Last year's CoSIDA Football Game Program – University Division contest category included football game day programs from both the FCS and FBS levels.

Liberty's Flames Illustrated publication finished ahead of the game day program for North Dakota State, the four-time NCAA FCS national champions, and the game day program for Virginia Tech's home football games.

CoSIDA annually judges submitted publication and promotional materials in more than 40 different categories. The contest honors the nation's top design work, while giving athletics communications and sports information directors constructive feedback on the overall quality and usefulness of their publications.

The Flames Illustrated publication serves as the game day program for each of Liberty's home football games. The expansive publication includes up-to-date information on Liberty's football program, the Flames' opponent for the week, team and individual notes, feature stories on football players and other athletics programs, community outreach stories and more.

The 2014 Flames Illustrated football game program was a collaborative effort between Liberty's Athletics Communications office and the University Marketing design team.

Todd Wetmore (Associate AD for Communications) and Ryan Bomberger (Associate Athletics Communications Director) served as the Athletics Communications editors for the football game day publication.

Ashley Holloway (Director of Marketing), Kevin Keys (Director of Athletics Marketing) and Ashley Porter (Project Coordinator) oversaw the design efforts from the University Marketing team for the publication.

Traditionally, CoSIDA has recognized several of Liberty's publications in its annual contests. Since 1977, publications produced by Liberty's Sports Information/Athletics Communications department have won 72 CoSIDA and NAIA-SIDA certificates at the national and regional levels, including 24 "Best in the Nation" awards.
