Liberty Field Hockey Head Coach Jodi Murphy has announced Natalie Barr, Erin Dombach and Sarah Gipe as the team captains for the 2015 season.
Barr, a senior forward, is coming off a shortened season due to injuries. Despite being injured, the Lurgan, Northern Ireland native accounted for five goals and two assists during the 2014 campaign. Barr enters the 2015 season as the program's all-time leader in goals (40), assists (21), points (101), shots (239) and game-winning goals (10).
Dombach played a pivotal role in Liberty's midfield a season ago, controlling the momentum in the Lady Flames' favor. The Lancaster, Pa., native recorded seven assists during the 2014 season, bringing her career total to 12 which ranks fifth all-time in program history.
Gipe enters the 2015 season after having a record-setting junior year. The Greencastle, Pa., native finished the season with 19 goals which tied Barr's program record set in 2013 for the most goals in a single season. Gipe finished the 2014 campaign with 45 points, leading Liberty's high-powered offense which ranked No. 2 in the country in goals scored per game (3.44). Gipe currently ranks second in program history in both goals (39) and points (87).
The Lady Flames trio looks to start Liberty on the right track when they host James Madison at 5 p.m. this evening at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
