After a successful four-year tenure with Liberty men's basketball, forward Andrew Smith will continue his playing career in the professional ranks. The Pompano Beach, Fla., native is headed to Latvia after signing with Jurmalas Fenikss of the Latvian Basketball League.
Smith concluded his career 37th on Liberty's all-time scoring list with 737 points. The 6-9 forward also finished 12th on the program's career rebounding list with 558 boards. Known throughout his collegiate career for his highlight reel dunks, Smith appeared on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays on numerous occasions.
Smith closed out the 2014-15 season as the Flames' leader in rebounds (7.6 rpg) and blocks (40). Among Big South players, Smith ranked third and sixth, respectively, in each category. He was also third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.6 ppg.
On Feb. 17, Smith posted a career-high 21 points in Liberty's contest against Longwood. Nine days later, he surpassed the 700-point mark with a 20-point performance in an 80-69 win over Radford.
