Fall practice is under way for the Liberty volleyball team, with training camp beginning on Tuesday. Following the Lady Flames' first preseason workout, LFSN reporter Alan York caught up with 12th-year head coach Shane Pinder and redshirt senior Caroline Douglas.
The interviews provide insight into the team's mindset heading into the 2015 season, while also showing an exclusive look at the team's first practice.
The Lady Flames went 23-10 last season, finishing 10-4 in Big South play to place third in the conference standings. Among last season's highlights was a 12-match winning streak, as Liberty raced out to a 22-5 start. Also, Pinder became Liberty's all-time winningest volleyball coach on Oct. 3 and became the fourth Big South volleyball coach with 200 or more wins the following day.
Liberty will compete in its annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Vines Center. The Lady Flames will then open their regular-season schedule by hosting the 2015 Liberty Invitational presented by La Quinta Inns & Suites, Aug. 28 and 29. The team begins its season on Aug. 28, facing UNCG at 7 p.m. at the Vines Center.
