Field Hockey Reveals Loaded 2015 Slate

2015 Liberty Field Hockey Schedule

Coming off of its second consecutive NorPac Championship and NCAA appearance, the 2015 Liberty field hockey team will face the most challenging schedule in program history. The Lady Flames' slate features seven NCAA Tournament qualifiers from 2014, six of the ACC's seven members and seven teams that were ranked in the final NFHCA Top 20 Coaches poll.

Liberty will play eight of its 18 regular-season tilts at Liberty Field Hockey Field. Perennial national powers Virginia, Boston College and Duke will all make the trek to Lynchburg as well as head coach Jodi Murphy's alma mater, Richmond.

The fifth season of Liberty field hockey will open with four consecutive home matches from Aug. 28 through Sept. 8. The Lady Flames will begin with in-state rival James Madison on Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. The following week on Sept. 4 Liberty will host Ivy League opponent Penn followed by Patriot League competitor, Lafayette, on Sept. 6. The Lady Flames will then close the homestand with a rematch of the 2014 NCAA Tournament Play-In game against Richmond on Sept. 8.

On Sept. 11 the Lady Flames will begin a four-game road swing, starting with a showdown in the Buckeye State with the Ohio Bobcats. The run will continue against back-to-back ACC opponents and 2014 NCAA qualifiers, Louisville (Sept. 13) and Wake Forest (Sept. 20). Liberty will conclude the road trip with a Commonwealth showdown against Old Dominion on Sept. 25.

The Lady Flames will return home to take on Boston College on Sept. 27 before heading out on a three-game road trip. Liberty will begin the three-game stretch with back-to-back matches in Pennsylvania against Temple (Oct. 4) and Lehigh (Oct. 9). The Lady Flames will then square off against Delaware on Oct. 11, a rematch of the 2013 NCAA Tournament Play-In game.

On Oct. 15, Liberty will host in-state competitor, Virginia, before taking to the road for one final three-game trip.

The Lady Flames travel to Lowell, Ma. on Oct. 23 to face UMass Lowell to begin the final road stretch. On Oct. 25, Liberty will travel to Providence, R.I. to square off against the Providence Friars at noon. The Lady Flames final road contest will be in the Tar Heel State when Liberty takes on North Carolina on Oct. 29, looking to overcome a hard fought 2-1 loss to the Tar Heels in the 2014 NCAA Tournament first round.

The Lady Flames will close out the regular season with back-to-back home contests beginning with ACC opponent, Duke, on Oct. 31. Liberty will then conclude its regular season with a matchup against former NorPac foe Appalachian State on Nov. 7.

Liberty will attempt to return to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, which will begin with a play-in round on Nov. 11 followed by the first round on Nov. 14.
