The Liberty softball team has blazed the basepaths in the last two seasons, leading the Big South in stolen bases in both 2014 and 2015. This past season, junior Blair Lawrence and freshman Tori Zavodny helped the Lady Flames steal a conference-best 91 bases as a team.
During the 2015 season, the LFSN TV show Game On composed a feature entitled "The Art of the Steal." This feature included interviews with Lawrence and Zavodny, along with catcher Kelby Allen and assistant coach Bob Pinto.
Lawrence and Zavodny tied for the team lead with 24 stolen bases apiece in 2015, tying for second in the Big South.
Zavodny was named to the Big South All-Freshman team, all-conference honorable mention and VaSID All-State second team. Her older sister Katie is Liberty's all-time record holder for stolen bases.
Lawrence has stolen 20 or more bases in each of the last seasons, joining Katie Zavodny as the only two Lady Flames with back-to-back 20-steal seasons. Lawrence is currently tied for fourth in program history with 54 career stolen bases.
