Liberty Men's Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay has announced the addition of Henry Barrera as the program's new strength and conditioning coach.
Barrera comes to Liberty from the state of Oregon, where he was a performance training specialist and consultant to multiple training categories including Nike Basketball and the Jordan Brand at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. As a basketball player, Barrera was a three-time All-American and NCCAA National Player of the Year while playing for Multnomah University.
After receiving his bachelor's degree, Barrera played one season of professional basketball in Sweden before beginning his coaching and performance training career 14 years ago. He also served as the men's basketball strength and conditioning coach at Concordia University in Portland, Ore., for four years. In addition, he helped build West Linn High School into one of the top programs in the country, winning the three straight Oregon state championships. He makes his way to the Hill City along with his wife of 15 years, Melody, and four children, Maya (10), Marquez (8), Malia (5) and Moriah (3).
