Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder has announced the addition of Cassie Crumal to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"We are excited to have Cassie join our staff at Liberty," Pinder remarked. "Her experiences as a coach, Division I athlete and setter will add great value to our program. She will oversee the development of our setters and offensive systems as well as act as our recruiting coordinator. It was the recruiting process that had a major impact on her life and why she wants to give back. I am excited to see the growth of our program because of her efforts and passion for this game and our program."

Crumal brings four seasons of collegiate coaching experience with her to Lynchburg. She spent the 2014 campaign as an assistant coach at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. While at Northwood, she served as recruiting coordinator. She also was in charge of opponent scouting using extensive film study. In addition to her on-court coaching duties, Crumal was responsible for day-to-day operations.

Prior to her time at Northwood, she was an assistant coach at Buffalo during the 2013 season. She helped with the organization of team practice, while also assisting with day-to-day operations and opponent scouting. Crumal aided the Bulls as they posted an 18-12 record, tying the program record for single-season victories.

She spent the 2012-13 academic year as interim head men's and women's volleyball coach at Lees-McRae. During that season, she obtained head coaching experience, being in charge of practices, scouting, game day management, budget management and on-court instruction.

Crumal was a four-year member of the William & Mary volleyball program. A three-time CAA All-Academic Team member, she served as co-captain for the Tribe in 2010. She dished out a career-high 66 assists in a 3-2 William & Mary setback to Liberty as a freshman on Sept. 15, 2007.

Upon her graduation in 2011 with bachelor's degree in psychology, she was ranked sixth in program history with 1,826 career assists. She earned a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Liberty in 2014.
