Robert Karlsson (left) and Chase Marinell (right) are set to begin their 2015 season on PGA Tour Canada this week at the 2015 PC Financial Open in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Two of Liberty's former standout golfers will tee it up alongside the best upcoming professional players in the world when the PGA Tour Canada 2015 season kicks off tomorrow in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Robert Karlsson (2009-12) and Chase Marinell (2011-14) will be among the competitors in the field for the 2015 PC Financial Open. The four-day event will be contested at the Point Grey Golf and Country Club, Thursday through Sunday.

Karlsson is entering his second year on PGA Tour Canada after finishing 22nd in the Order of Merit rankings in 2014. The native of Kalmar, Sweden, competed in 11 events last season, with earnings of $25,477. He made nine cuts and posted seven top 25 finishes.

Karlsson ranked No. 21 on tour with a 70.00 season stroke average and No. 42 in eagles (6). His best finish of the season was a third-place showing at the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open where he posted a 20-under par 268 at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (72-66-65-65).

Marinell will be making his PGA Tour Canada career debut at the event. The native of Fort Myers, Fla., earned exemption into the first half of the season by finishing in a tie for 13th place at the Florida Qualifying Tournament, April 14-17, at Orange County National Golf Club in Winter Garden, Fla.

The 13th-place finish allows Marinell to be exempt through the first six events of the 2015 PGA Tour Canada schedule.

PGA Tour Canada is part of the journey a professional golfer can take to earn their tour card for the PGA Tour.

The top five finishers in the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit annually earn a spot on the Web.com Tour, which is the development tour for the PGA Tour. The top 25 golfers in the Web.com Tour each year earn their PGA Tour card.

Karlsson and Marinell are two of the most decorated golfers in Liberty program history. Karlsson became the program's first GCAA/PING All-American in 2012 and was a three-time selection on the GCAA/PING All-Region team. Marinell was twice selected to the GCAA/PING All-Region teams.

Karlsson, the 2010 and 2011 Big South Men's Golfer of the Year, is the program's career stroke leader (72.02). Marinell, the 2014 Big South Men's Golfer of the Year, ranks second in program history (73.04).

Karlsson participated in two NCAA Regionals as an individual in 2009 and 2010 and led the Flames to the NCAA Regionals as a team in 2011 and 2012.

Marinell was a part of four NCAA Regional teams (2011-14), including an at-large selection into the regional field in 2013.

Karlsson and Marinell were part of Liberty's team that won the 2012 NCAA Greensboro Regional and finished in 10th place at the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf National Championship.
