The Liberty Flames will be the No. 4 seed for the next week's Big South Baseball Championship. The seedings and pairings were announced this evening, following the close of the 2015 regular season. The tournament will be contested, May 19-23 at John Henry Moss Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C.
Liberty, 33-21 overall, posted a 16-8 record in Big South Conference play to finish tied in the conference standings with Winthrop, who claims tiebreaker and the No. 3 seed. The Flames will play in Bracket Two during the conference championship and will face the No. 5 seed High Point Panthers in the final game of the day, Tuesday. High Point finished the regular season with a 14-10 mark in conference action and a 27-24 overall record.
The two teams met this weekend with the High Point winning two of the three games in a highly competitive series at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The Flames won the final game of the series, 8-7, earlier today.
Radford captures the Big South regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the conference championship with a 20-4 mark in league play. The nationally ranked Highlanders have posted a 39-14 overall record. Coastal Carolina captures the No. 2 seed with a 17-7 Big South record.
After Winthrop, Liberty and High Point, Campbell claims the No. 6 seed with a 12-12 Big South record.
Charleston Southern, 10-14 in the conference, and Longwood, 9-15 in Big South play, round out the field as the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds, respectively.
The 2015 Big South Baseball Championship features the top eight teams in the league and will be played on the campus of Gardner-Webb. The first three days of games will air on the Big South Network, while the semifinals and winner-take-all championship game will air exclusively on ESPN3. The winner of the championship game receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
In addition, each Liberty contest during the tournament will be broadcast on the radio by the Liberty Flames Sports Network.
