Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder and his staff have announced the addition of Michelle Melendez to the Liberty volleyball program.
Melendez signed to attend Liberty beginning in the fall of 2015 and will have two years of eligibility remaining after transferring from Palm Beach State College.
Michelle Melendez, So., DS/L, 5-4, Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian (Palm Beach State) Hailing from Miami, Fla., Melendez spent the last two seasons playing for Palm Beach State College as a defensive specialist/libero. While at Palm Beach State, she was a two-time member of the FCSAA All-Academic team, while also earning all-conference second team honors in 2014. She twice joined the 25-Dig Club as a sophomore.
Melendez graduated from Westminster Christian School, where she was a four-year varsity player, splitting time as a setter and defensive specialist. She was named All-Dade honorable mention twice before earning All-Dade third team honors as a senior. During each of her last two seasons, she helped lead Westminster Christian to the state final four. She earned the Warrior Award in 2011 before being voted Female Athlete of the Year as a senior.
"With the addition of Michelle we add more ball control and defense to an already talented group," head coach Shane Pinder said. "Michelle is also a transfer who has two years of experience at the college level. She has great passion for the game and her position. I expect her to come in and compete for time on the floor right away."
