The Liberty softball team picked up a series victory over conference-leading Coastal Carolina last weekend, winning two out of three against the Chanticleers at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
After falling, 4-3, on Friday, the Lady Flames earned a pair of 5-4 wins on Saturday. Liberty capped the doubleheader sweep by capturing a thrilling, 5-4 victory in 10 innings on Saturday night. Freshman Cassie Gingerich delivered the winning hit, laying down a squeeze bunt to send Mickey Loveridge home with the winning run. Liberty has now won six out of it seven conference series, sweeping five Big South doubleheaders.
Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) was on hand all weekend, and Alan York caught up with Gingerich, Katie Han, Madison Kotchey and head coach Dot Richardson.
The Lady Flames close out their regular-season home schedule this week, taking on Hampton in a doubleheader tomorrow at 4 p.m. before facing Virginia in a twin bill on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
