The Liberty Flames will look to defend their conference title next weekend when they participate in the 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship, Sunday through Tuesday.
Prior to the team's departure to Ninety Six, S.C., LFSN reporter Nick Pierce had a chance to catch up with Head Coach Jeff Thomas and senior Mathieu Fenasse.
The three-day, 54-hole event will once again be contested at The Patriot Golf Club (par 72, 7,120 yards), the same course where Liberty has won three out of the last four Big South titles (2011, 2012 and 2014).
The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Men's Golf Championship for the 10th time in 11 years. The course has hosted the event every year since 2008 in addition to 2005 and 2006.
Last year, the Flames posted a winning score of 3-over par 867 (290-293-284), finishing five strokes ahead of Charleston Southern (872) and 11 shots clear of Coastal Carolina (878).
The event will get underway on Sunday when Liberty goes off the No. 1 tee at the Patriot Golf Club along with golfers from No. 1 seed Winthrop and No. 3 seed Radford. The top three seeded teams in the event will start play at 9:20 a.m.
Hole-by-hole live scoring will be available throughout the event via Golfstat. @LUGameDay (Liberty's Game Day Twitter account) will be on the course providing more in-depth coverage of Liberty's golfers as they seek to capture the program's fourth conference title.
