Weather Report
Saturday's weather is projected to be beautiful in Buies Creek, with a high temperature in the mid 80s under partly cloudy skies.

Something New
The Campbell Invitational is taking place on the weekend formerly reserved for the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships and will feature exclusively Big South athletes.

The 2015 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C., May 14-16.

Big South Preview?
Four weeks prior to the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, four of the Big South's top teams will square off in something of a conference meet preview.

At the 2014 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Coastal Carolina (first), Liberty (second), High Point (third) and Campbell (fourth) swept the top four places in the women's team standings.

The same four squads topped the 2014 men's leaderboard, in the following order: Liberty (first), Coastal Carolina (second), High Point (third) and Campbell (fourth).

However, it must be noted that not all of the teams' top athletes will compete in Buies Creek on Saturday. For Liberty, numerous standouts, including Stephen Racanelli, Fred Fulton, Steve Feister, Daniel Klase, Abigail Flower, Jacy Christiansen, Ednah Kurgat and Mychelle Cumings, will take the weekend off from competition.

Additionally, host Campbell will be sending some of its top athletes to Charlottesville, Va., for this weekend's Virginia Challenge.

Keeping Score
The Campbell Invitational will mark Liberty's third team-scored meet of the 2015 outdoor season and second in a row. Last week, the Flames and Lady Flames competed in the Duke Invitational. They also took part in the Virginia Cup on March 21.

The Liberty men's squad is unbeaten in scored meets thus far this season, going 2-0 at the Virginia Cup and winning the Duke Invitational title. The Flames have defeated five ACC opponents head-to-head, including Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Virginia.

Meanwhile, the Lady Flames went 3-1 at the Virginia Cup and placed second to Duke at the Duke Invitational. Last weekend, Liberty finished ahead of Clemson, North Carolina and NC State. The Lady Flames are 1-0 against Big South foes this season, posting a 124-37 win over Radford at the Virginia Cup.

Homecoming for Tolsma
Liberty head coach Brant Tolsma will return to Campbell for a track & field meet for the first time since joining the Flames' coaching staff in 1986. Tolsma served as the Camels' head men's and women's cross country and track & field coach for seven years (1979-86).

Irwin Belk Track did not exist during Tolsma's tenure in Buies Creek, as the facility was just dedicated in 2012. Saturday's meet will mark Campbell's second home meet since 1987.

Big South's Best
Four weeks before the start of the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, a number of Liberty athletes top the conference leaderboard in their respective events.

Liberty's No. 1 rankers in men's events include John Sherret (800, 1:52.52), Titus Koech (5K, 14:57.43), Ryan Davis (400 hurdles, 52.53), Aklesso Agama (long jump, 24-0.25 and triple jump, 49-10.5), Fred Fulton (shot put, 58-8 and discus, 180-2), Steve Feister (javelin, 221-11) and Zach Davis (decathlon, 7,049).

On the women's side, the Lady Flames' Big South leaders include Abigail Flower (100, 11.70 and 200, 23.90), Ednah Kurgat (5K, 16:49.00), Dana Mercer (long jump, 18-9.25), Jessie Glynn (pole vault, 12-3.5), Mychelle Cumings (shot put, 50-1.25 and discus, 163-9) and Audrey Bamford (heptathlon, 4,506).
