The No. 2 seed Liberty men's tennis squad embarks on its quest to capture the Big South title on Sunday with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 7 seed UNC Asheville.
Prior to departing for Asheville, N.C., the site of this year's tournament, the Flames' head coach, Chris Johnson, had a chance to talk with Liberty Flames Sports Network's Alan York. During the interview, Johnson discusses the team's play heading into the tournament as well as how to scout for the Flames opponents.
Liberty and Asheville most recently squared off on March 27 when the Flames fell to the Bulldogs, 5-2 in Asheville, N.C. Liberty is 10-14 all-time against Asheville, with the Flames winning three of the last four outings.
If the Flames advance past the Bulldogs, they will take on the winner of match No. 5 on Monday at 2 p.m., which features No. 3 seed Winthrop and No. 6 seed Radford. Liberty bested Winthrop by a score of 4-3 on April 2 in Rock Hill, S.C., prior to defeating Radford by the same score in Liberty's regular season finale at Radford, Va., on April 12.
