Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse (left) and Isaiah Logue (right) have been named the final Big South Player and Freshman of the Week prior to the next week's Big South Men's Golf Championship.
Following shared first-place finishes at the 2015 Liberty Spring Invitational this past weekend, Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse and Isaiah Logue were honored by the Big South Conference office earlier today.
Fenasse was named Co-Big South Men's Golfer of the Week, sharing top weekly conference honors with Gardner-Webb's Chris Jones. Fenasse has been named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week two other times this season (Oct. 2 and Feb. 19).
Logue was named the Big South Men's Golf Freshman of the Week, an honor he has received six times this spring and seven times overall during his rookie season.
Fenasse (69-71-73) and Logue (70-74-69) posted a 3-under par 213 to finish in a six-way tie for first place at the Liberty Spring Invitational. Fenasse birded the second playoff hole, capturing his second career individual medalist honors.
The Lias, France, native's first-place finish was his third top five finish of the season and fifth top 10 finish of his senior campaign.
He opened the event with consecutive under-par rounds, giving him 15 rounds at par or better this season. He also finished the event 6-under par on par-4 holes, ranking second in the 94-man field in par-4 scoring.
Logue closed the tournament at Poplar Grove Golf Course with a 3-under par 69, giving him his fourth sub-70 round of his rookie season.
The Fairfield, Pa., native bookended under-par rounds during the tournament, giving him 12 rounds at par or better this season. He ranked third in the 94-man field in par-5 scoring (5-under par) and also posted 12 birdies during the event, which ranked ninth in the tournament field.
Fenasse (72.55) and Logue (72.83) lead the Flames in season stroke average and will look to guide Liberty at next week's 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship.
The three-day, 54-hole event will be contested at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C., Sunday through Tuesday. Liberty has won the conference title three out of the last four years (2011, 2012 and 2014).
