Flames Receive No. 2 Seed for Big South Men's Golf Championship

Liberty will be the No. 2 seed at next week's 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship, where the Flames will look to defend their conference title.

The Flames entered the last four conference championship events as the No. 1 seed, a position that helped them win titles three out of the last four years (2011, 2012 and 2014).

Liberty's Golfstat team ranking has continually been on the rise throughout the 2014-15 season. The Flames have been ranked at No. 81 in the Golfstat team rankings for the last two weeks, a position they were able to maintain thanks to a third-place finish at last weekend's Liberty Spring Invitational.

Winthrop garnered the top seed in next week's event based upon their No. 69 Golfstat ranking, the top ranking among the conference's 10 men's golf teams. Radford is the No. 3 seed, as they are ranked No. 96 in the country.

Coastal Carolina is the No. 4 seed with its ranking of 103, while Campbell earns the No. 5 seed with its national ranking of No. 121. Charleston Southern, last year's championship runner-up, is No. 143 nationally and will be the No. 6 seed in the event, with Gardner-Webb (161) receiving the No. 7 seed.

Host Presbyterian is the No. 8 seed based on its ranking of 178, ahead of No. 9 seed High Point (226). Longwood rounds out the championship field as the No. 10 seed (253).

The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Men's Golf Championship for the 10th time in 11 years, as the course has hosted the event every year since 2008 in addition to 2005 and 2006.

The 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship begins this weekend with a practice round on Saturday. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played Sunday through Tuesday and is free and open to the public. In addition, fans can follow the action online via Golfstat's "Live Scoring" feature.
