The Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis squad closes out its 2015 home schedule tomorrow with a Big South battle against the Radford Highlanders at 2 p.m. at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts.
The Lady Flames are currently 15-3 overall with a 5-1 mark in conference play. With a win tomorrow, Liberty would surpass the program's single season wins record with 16 on the season.
The Highlanders enter tomorrow's contest with a 4-9 record, including a 1-5 mark in Big South Action.
The Lady Flames hold the series advantage over Radford, 10-7. In the most recent contest, Liberty bested Radford by a score of 4-1 in the Big South Championship quarterfinals in Boiling Springs, N.C. on April 16, 2014.
Liberty arrives into tomorrow's bout as winners of eight of the last nine matches. The Lady Flames' only loss was a come-from-behind 4-3 defeat by the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Saturday in Lynchburg, Va. The following day Liberty responded by blanking Presbyterian, 7-0 to improve to 5-1 in Big South action.
Evangeline Crist paces the Lady Flames in singles play with a 13-2 mark on the season. Senior Nicola Wellman ranks second on the squad in singles wins with 11, while Maria Khval and Belen Rivera round out the double-digit singles victors with 10 wins thus far.
Crist also leads Liberty in doubles action with 15 wins on the campaign. Khval and Valerie Thong are tied for the second most doubles wins with 14, while Brittany Yang rounds out the double-digit performers with 13 doubles wins this season.
Radford enters tomorrow's contest having won four of its last six matches. The Highlanders have dropped two consecutive matches heading into tomorrow, both to Big South foes. On March 22, Radford fell to Charleston Southern by a score of 7-0. In their most recent contest, the Highlanders dropped a home contest to Coastal Carolina, 6-1 on Sunday in Radford, Va.
Following tomorrow's contest, Liberty returns to action on Friday when the Lady Flames travel to Rock Hill, S.C. for a conference showdown against Winthrop at 11 a.m. Liberty then travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. on Saturday to take on the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs at noon.
